Mud Brook is Lily Bay State Park’s group campsite.  Set on a peninsula north of the park, this is a great spot for larger camping crews.  It has all the benefits of the state park, but is a bit more rustic with only one outhouse and no other facilities.

After breaking some of the rules at Lily Bay because our group was too big and despite having multiple sites, we wanted to all be together, the park rangers kindly let us know that we belonged at Mud Brook Camp.  Ranger Mark was certainly right.

We’ve been fortunate enough to stay at Mud Brook Camp on Columbus Day weekend in 2015 and 2016 and Fourth of July weekend in 2016 (we tried, but couldn’t get this site again for 2017).  You have to wake up pretty early in the morning to score a spot here and I’m grateful to Justin and Molly (my camping parents) who have a knack for getting us great camping setups.

I can’t wait to get back to Mud Brook and hope to be lucky to score a reservation there next year!
