I discovered the Winterport Winery and the Penobscot Bay Brewery not long after moving to Maine – of course Willow is from Winterport, so she’s known about it for years 🙂 I used to drive down Route One, and just meander my way down, checking out many antique shops and views along the way. (you can see a great throwback post about that here) and I’d always stop at the Winery if I had friends with me. Back before the Bacon Tree was a full restaurant and the dining area was available for special events, the wine dinners there were some of my favorite experiences!

The Winterport Winery, owned by Michael and Joan Anderson, opened its doors in the fall of 2001 but it really had its beginning in the Christmas gift of a home winemaking kit some 30 years earlier. What was a hobby then has now become a full time work and a family involved business – what used be stored in the family basement now occupies the 3200 sq. ft. winery and 1100 sq. ft. tasting room.

Our tasting room is a wonderful place to sample some of our wines. Come also to browse through our retail store and find that unique gift idea such as wine related items or something for that hard-to-shop for person.

Come in and meet us. You might see some of the family here or some of our friends who are all part of Winterport Winery.

We happened to make a stop here on our Beer and Yoga Adventure with Maine Yoga Adventures (read that here!) and we grabbed some shots!

We sampled some beer and wine, lead by the owners and all around awesome people Joan and Mike, then we took a brewery tour.
