Beginner’s Guide to hiking Sugarloaf Mountain in the Summer

Sugarloaf Mountain is a great summer hike!

Willow and I took her son Dresden on a training hike for Katahdin! He is always a reluctant hiker, but he enjoyed the journey. Sugarloaf is one of Maine’s 4,000 footers. It’s an awesome day hike, and if you take the ski trails up, we can tell you it’s suitable for a nine year old!

We parked at the Ski Resort and we took the ski trails up!

Trail Stats for Sugarloaf Mountain

According to the Maine Mountain Guide….(Don’t have one? We recommend it. Buy it using the link on the photo below, and we’ll get a little kickback!!)

There are two ways up Sugarloaf Mountain – we chose the ski trails, because it was quicker. You can also access Sugarloaf Mountain via the AT, which is the map below.
